First Days @ FAU
Starting a master’s program at a new university is exciting but can be a challenge. To help you get organized, this checklist provides an overview of necessary steps to be taken at the beginning of your studies. Please be aware that this list might not be complete. You will find additional information by going through the IIS website and the FAU website. Additionally, you will get information material when registering yourself for the master’s degree at the head office in Erlangen. If you have any further questions, you can talk to your fellow students, post your question in the facebook group or contact the program coordinators.
To do before the semester starts:

|[ ] IIS Website||Are you familiar with the information available on our IIS website (this website)?|
|[ ] Module Manual||Have you read the module handbook to get a general overview which modules are generally available?
Master’s degree programs -> Master of Science in International Information Systems (Start of study after WS14/15)
|[ ] Timetable via UnivIS||Have you put together your timetable?
You can plan the courses individually by yourself:
|[ ] Study and exam regulations||Have you read the “Studien- und Prüfungsordnung to be informed about all issues concerning your exams and modules and options?

Are you aware of the two IIS welcome events?
|[ ] FAU app||Did you download the FAU app for your smartphone?|
|Do you follow IIS on Facebook?|
|[ ] FSI WInf/IIS||Did you visit the website of the students’ representative group for the IIS program at the FAU? Feel free to participate actively!|
|[ ] Going Abroad Options||Did you already think about your options for going abroad?|
|[ ] Residence registration||Have you registered your address at the “Einwohnermeldeamt”?|
|[ ] RRZE-Starthilfe||How to setup your IT infrastructure?
|[ ] E-Mail Account||Have you activated your e-mail account? Its a must to check your e-mails regularly!|
|[ ] Library||Did you visit the library/libraries?
(You can also take part in a tour through the library offered by one of the libraries)
|[ ] Nuremberg||Did you make yourself familiar with Nuremberg and the city’s surroundings?|
|[ ] Semester Ticket||In collaboration with the local transport network (VGN), Student Services Erlangen-Nürnberg is introducing a semester ticket. All students must pay the fee for the basic ticket and may choose whether they also wish to purchase the additional ticket.|
